Face Of Australia : Barbados Collection

Face of Australia (FOA) can be trusted to bring fabulous makeup at very reasonable price. And with Barbados collection it has proved again.

Its a collection which FOA has come up with collaboration of MBBE (Melbourne Beauty Blogger Event). The collection has 8 nail paints and they are Toluene free, Formaldehyde free, Dibutyl Phthalate free.

I got a chance to try 4 nail paints from this collection. They were part of the goody bag from MBBE 2011. The formula is streak free and gives opacity in 2 coats except for Another Daiquiri Please.

Calypso Gold

Its white with lots of gold shimmer in it.

Bright Lights, Pink City

Its pink with golden shimmer. I loved this so much that I was reluctant to remove it and swatch the remaining collection

Another Daquiri Please

This is a beautiful coral with gold shimmer. The only problem was the visible nail line after 2 coats

Lets Go Scuba Diving

Now, for me this is the winner of the collection. An awesome bluish green with loads of golden shimmer in it. I loved it so much that I wore it again on my wedding anniversary.
The collection is so pretty with great quality that I plan to get more once they hit the stores

Availability : Priceline, Big W
Price: $4.95 AUD

MAC Surf Baby : Mocha

MAC repromoted Mocha lipstick from its Mickey Contractor Collection. Since I had missed out on the MC collection, I decided to get it from this release.

Finish : Satin

Color : Its a medium dark brown with a tones of red. Its a beautiful shade which would complement any olive tonned beauty.

Pigmentation : Having Satin finish means that the color payoff is great, one swipe is all you need to get the color.

Now, to what I didn't like about this lipstick. In fact its not about this lipstick its about the Satin Finish in MAC as such. Oh MAC !! why should you have just timeless colors in ever drying, line enhancing finish/formulation. First Twig now Mocha...no no its not fair...

If only this lipstick was not drying( my husband said "Lines on your lips are looking so obvious") it was a complete winner.

Would I recommend it : Yes because of color. A lip primer can take care of the lines and a gloss would handle the dryness.

I have compared the swatch with Face of Australia Mineral Shine Lipstick, First Kiss in below picture.I wouldn't say they are similar but First Kiss with a reddish brown lipliner might work the trick

Face Of Australia : Mineral Lip Shine

Today, I feature 4 shades from Face Of Australia (FOA) Mineral Lip Shine.

As per FOA its a perfect go between natural lip color - not sticky or shiny like a lip gloss and not heavy as a lipstick. It has no synthetic dyes and antioxidants and skin hydrating ingredients

The 4 colors which were sent for consideration are
  • First Kiss

Its cream finish nude which worked perfectly for me. In fact I have been pairing it quite often with  smokey eye look. Its quite moisturising although not that long lasting ,but then I don't mind reapplying it.
I recommend it highly if you are looking for a nude color
  • Beach House

Its a frosty finish with hints for brown . I was very iffy while giving it a try since I am not much into frosty finish. But I was pleasantly surprised at the finished look
  • Fairy Floss

Its again a frosty finish with pink mauvish tones. Now this was the surprise in pack. I wasn't expecting it to work with my pigmented lips, but voila, it looked so great that I can see myself wearing this alot on hot summer days

  • Love Bite

Its cream finish deep brown color with red undertones. If you are not comfortable wearing dark colors then this is a good place to start. Again, I have been wearing this quite often during this winter

Overall :
They are very hydrating lip shines and don't settle in lines. The color pay off is sheer but the cream finish ones can be built up easily.

They retail at $12.95 AUD at Priceline, KMart, Big W and Selected Pharmacies

Face Of Australia :Liquid Eyeliner

What does one expect from a liquid eyeliner ?
  • Color payoff
  • Ease to apply
  • Easy to clean
  • Dries quickly
Have I found an eyeliner which ticks all 4 ? No, till I used Face Of Australia (FOA) liquid eyeliner in brown.

In addition to above, I have been able to achieve the perfect line without smudging and getting any eyeliner on my lashes. I was even able to get a nice flicked look. Now, this is amazing considering the fact that I have never ever got a perfect line without making multiple attempts, frustration and promising to stick to pencil liner.

But with FOA liner, I have managed to get perfect flicked eyeliner look each time I tried. In fact I am so confident now that I wear it quite often and even to events and parties.

I think what does the trick is the brush, which is firm enough to get the perfect line and still bends just enough to take the shape of eye.

I am loving this so much that I might buy other colors from the range.
It retails at $8.95AUD and can be bought from Priceline, KMart,Big W and Selected Pharmacies

Face Of Australia :LUXE Summer Spice

What does a girl do, when she needs little pick me up...she goes to the local drugstore and buys the much sought after nail colour.

So, with this thought I headed to local Priceline to get my hands on Face Of Australia LUXE nail paints. But, being limited edition and so popular and yours truly being so late to the party, there was none left :-((

Suddenly I became a girl with mission, mission to acquire if not all at least 1 nail paint from the much loved collection.

And after scouring many stores, I got my hands on this beauty. The Face Of Australia LUXE nail paint in Summer Spice

Please excuse the shoddy application, I couldn't wait to clean up before taking the pics.

My experience with it : I think the praise is much deserved.

What I liked about it :

-> The formula is oh so smooth and so easy to apply
-> 2 coats and I got perfect application without any baldy patches
-> It dries super quick
-> Color is so bright and perfect pick me up

What I didn't like about it :

-> With something so good, this should be made part of permanent line

It retails at $4.95 AUD at Priceline.

P.S : And no I didn't break my no spend challenge, I used a gift voucher !!
