I got a chance to try Steel Your Heart, a charcoal shimmer.

The formula is streak free and its opaque in 2 coats. Although the color itself isn't unique but if you don't have similar color, I think its worth picking up .

Next of my desire list is You're Blushing.

OPI Holland Collection

In February this year, OPI came out with Holland Collection which featured 12 colors.  Apart from some real quirky names it had beautiful and varied range of hues and texture. I got a chance to try 5 of the shades.

  •     I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!

Its a pale blue with lots of shimmer. I found the application to be little patchy with 2 coats, maybe 3 would be okay.

  •     A Roll in the Hague

Its a bright orange color with cream finish. I love this color for the simple fact that, one look at it and             I feel happy instantly.
  •     Peddle Faster Suzi.

The color is lavender with shimmer. Even though they have shimmer in them , they apply with ease.

  •     Thanks A WindMillion.

Its a sage green with cream finish.

  •     Kiss Me on My Tulip.

Its a bright pink with a cream finish.

For me , the winner is 'A Roll in the Hague'. I think its one of those colors which are very bright without being into your face.

Price : $19.95 AUD
Availability : Myer, David Jones, Adore Beauty

MeMeMe Cosmetics

Isn't it great when a brand you have read about finally hits your shore !! I had read great deal about MeMeMe Cosmetics and was always keen to try them. So, when I got to try them, I jumped right away.

One item which intrigued me was the Shimmer Stack. I have used Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick and was keen to see if there was any difference.I got a chance to try Shimmer Stack in Pink.

One thing which I could see right away was absence of shimmer overload. And its a good thing. I always had a gripe with Bobbi Brown that the shimmer particles were real big and made my pores look huge. But, this has just the right amount giving a very soft glow, when swirled and applied. I just love the color( soft coral ) and it stays on for 2 - 3 hours. Even though the color fades the glow remains.

I also tried 'Spirited' from their Catwalk Nail Collection. Its a pastel peach and applies streak free, with a gloss finish. A perfect color for summer.

Price : The Shimmer Stack retails for $ 27.95 AUD
Nail paint is for $12.95 AUD
Availability: These are available online mememecosmetics

Face Of Australia : Barbados Collection

Face of Australia (FOA) can be trusted to bring fabulous makeup at very reasonable price. And with Barbados collection it has proved again.

Its a collection which FOA has come up with collaboration of MBBE (Melbourne Beauty Blogger Event). The collection has 8 nail paints and they are Toluene free, Formaldehyde free, Dibutyl Phthalate free.

I got a chance to try 4 nail paints from this collection. They were part of the goody bag from MBBE 2011. The formula is streak free and gives opacity in 2 coats except for Another Daiquiri Please.

Calypso Gold

Its white with lots of gold shimmer in it.

Bright Lights, Pink City

Its pink with golden shimmer. I loved this so much that I was reluctant to remove it and swatch the remaining collection

Another Daquiri Please

This is a beautiful coral with gold shimmer. The only problem was the visible nail line after 2 coats

Lets Go Scuba Diving

Now, for me this is the winner of the collection. An awesome bluish green with loads of golden shimmer in it. I loved it so much that I wore it again on my wedding anniversary.
The collection is so pretty with great quality that I plan to get more once they hit the stores

Availability : Priceline, Big W
Price: $4.95 AUD

NOTD / Review : Priti NYC China Pink Tulip

What the Company Says :

Priti NYC Nail Polishes have an organic formula, free from toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DHB) and formaldehyde and do not contain any petroleum ingredients or camphor. These polishes are fast drying, chip resistant, and super glossy, plus they're completely safe for use on children and pregnant women

Color

It has over 138 shades ranging from nudes to intensely colored nail paints.
I wore China Pink Tulip which is fuschia leaning more towards magenta.

Performance

It dried to glossy finish and lasted without any chipping for 3 days. Seriously there was no chipping, I had to take it off only because I wanted to wear something new. All I could see after 3 days was small fading at the tips, that's about it.

What I liked about it :
  • The fact that its 3 free
  • The extensive color range
  • The application is like walk in park, 2 coats to opacity and no streaking.
  • The glossy finish of the nail paint
  • Last but not least that there was no chipping even after 3 days.

What I didn't like :

I tried hard to find any negatives, but couldn't find any. Its a winner

Would I Recommend It : Definitely , yes. I can't wait to try more products from this range.

Review : Kink Nail Paint

What Company website says

For a popping pedi or an on-trend mani, Kink’s vibrant range of Nail Polishes cannot be beaten. Coming in a 10ml bottle, this streak-free formula resists chipping, is free from toluene, formaldehyde and di butyl phthalate, and is available in 16 colours ranging from creamy pinks to vibrant corals and vampy darks.

Packaging

Its quite standard nail paint packaging

Color

Even though there are only 16 colors, the range is quite varied from work safe ‘Nearly Nude’ to fun loving ‘Showgirl’ or ‘Hot Hot Hot’.

I tried 2 nail paint from this range

  • Hot Hot Hot
Its hot pink color which surprisingly suits me alot. A perfect color for Fridays.

  • Peachy
As the name suggests it a pleasant peach color. It sits somewhere peach and bright coral,
which  made me gravitate towards this shade. A work safe color when you don’t want to
              wear boring nudes.
I loved ‘Peachy’ so much that the first thought as I applied it was “I need to get a backup for this”

Performance

Its a breeze to apply with no streak marks or visible brush strokes. I wore this with Cutex Base Coat and observed wearing at the tips very next day. Now, this was a let down for such a fantastic performing color. It might perform better with a top coat, but I can’t find mine in all this business of moving house.

What I like about it
  • Varied Color Range
  • Ease to apply
  • An last but not least price. In Coles it retails at $5AUD each with all time offer of 3 for price of 2.
What I don’t like
I just wished that it lasted a bit more long nails
.
Would I recommend it :  Oh yes!! A definite range to try especially when you can sneak it into grocery basket.

Availability : Coles
Price : $5AUD each with all time offer of 3 for price of 2

Back to Blogging with Sizzling Taupe

My life has been busy with many things happening at the same time. A newborn and moving to new house meant that I was all over the place. There were so many things to manage that blogging took a hit. I always felt guilty about ignoring my blog. So, I decided, that I would try to evolve a schedule in which blogging also gets its due time.

Today, I woke up with a resolve to write something only to realise that writing a post after such a long time is real hard. I am so unsure where to start, what to write and if it will be good enough to be posted. Anyways, I will start with something simple and then take it from there.

Few months ago, I bought my first Estee Lauder nailpaint, Sizzling Taupe. It a beautiful taupe color which applies like a dream.

What I like about it :

  • The color is sophistication packed in a bottle. You just can't go wrong with it
  • It dries pretty quick
  • There are no brush stroke marks
What I don't like :

  • I just wished it wasn't retailing at $39 AUD

Would I recommend it : Ofcourse. In fact I plan to get more from this range

Availability: Estee Lauder Counters in DJ, Myer
Price: $39 AUD

Illamasqua Toxic Nature Collection Nail Paints

Okay..okay I know I am very late doing this post...but knowing the procrastinator I am this is no surprise.

Illamasqua released 5 nail paints as part of their Toxic Nature Collection and I bought 2 of those - Bacterium and Stagnate

Bacterium

Its a metallic gold with a hint of green/khaki coming through. I didn't have anything of this kind already in my collection
I have taken the pictures in different lights just to capture the different shades it has to offer.

What I liked most about this is that it applies streak free..,.yes you heard it right no streaks...

Stagnate

I fell in love with this color as soon as I swatched it at Myer. It was exactly what I love in my nail paint. Cream formula, easy to apply, dries quickly and the color was nice warm mauve. Perfect for cooler months.

The lightning has changed  in second picture so its the same color just looking different in different light.
