SAX Eye Delight Eyeshadow Palette

The SAX website describes this as

"Perfect! Fresh, heavenly eyes can be achieved in minutes with sax’s “eye delight” eyeshadow palette. Contour, blend and highlight with silky smooth powders which glide effortlessly on to eyelids, for breathtaking beautiful eyes."

The packaging of the product is similar to NARS rubberized case. The best is that it comes with a huge mirror, a great bonus and perfect to do your makeup on go.

The colors are leaning towards neutral and they apply beautifully. I won't say much, but if you like neutrals and need to take one palette, this is your baby.

I have also posted an EOTD with this palette.

Chanel D'Ombre

Thanks to Jen from myfunnyvalentineblog I had a huge lemming for Chanel Illusion D'ombre. I so wanted this that I would have dreams of buying it. And I decided on the color based on a post about Frieda Pinto's makeup where the makeup artist had used Ebloui.
Do you see a pattern ? Reading fabulous blogs can be injurious to your wallet.

Now on to the actual product.

Packaging :
It comes packaged in a jar with a small slanted tip brush. The brush is quite handy and be actually used with the shadows.

Color :
Its a deep burgundy color with multicolored shimmer particles in it. It reminded me of MAC Cranberry although with more brown in it.
Texture :
In the jar, it feels like sponge and when swatched its like a cream eyeshadow.

Performance:
I wore it both all over lid and as an eyeliner.
There was no creasing or flaking experienced even after 6 hours wear.

Would I Recommend It : Yes, definitely. If you want something easy to work with and do quick eye makeup, this is your product. The only sticking point is the price.

Availability : Myer, DJ, Chanel Boutique
RRP : $49 AUD

Update : Since I wrote this post as a draft couple of months ago, I have bought 2 more from this range. I will be posting swatches of them soon.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadows

Today, I am going to share with you my recently bought Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadows. Since they are not available in Australia, I got them off eBay for $7.99AUD each.

Packaging :
It comes with a clear case cover and set of brush & sponge applicator. The packaging is very flimsy and I don't see myself using either the sponge or the brush.

Color :
Now, this is the fun part. I picked colors which didn't exist in my stash.
I swatched them without any base and I am quite impressed with the color payoff

I am yet to wear them out, so I can't comment on their staying power but my first impressions are really  good about these palettes. You can definitely not go wrong with the price they are for.

L'Occitane is brand generally associated with quality skincare products. I have used few items from their range and loved it.
If I am not wrong, L'Occitane ventured into releasing make up once every year , since last year. I had browsed the range and one thing which caught my eyes was the packaging. There was something charming about the cardboard packaging. I was also curious about what L'Occitane had to offer in makeup. So, when I saw the indigo-kir-royale haul post, I was tempted to try something from this range.

I initially wanted to get Petals Eye Quartet but I felt the colors didn't show so well on my NC 42 skin. But, this doesn't take away any points from the eyeshadow's texture, pigmentation ...if it shows up on you,  its really great for the price.

I got for myself Corail Quadrille Duo Eyeshadow.

What I like about it :
  • Packaging. The cardboard packaging won me straightaway. Not just that, they have a small ribbon under the brush/sponge applicator which can be used to pull out the applicator easily.
  • Pigmentation. The color in the palette is achieved in one - two swipes with an eye primer
  • Texture. Its quite smooth with minimum fall out.
  • Even though its shimmer eyeshadow, its not over the top and can be easily used for daytime look
  • And what I love the most is that, this duo is enough to create a daytime smokey look

What I didn't like about it :
Nothing till now.

Would I recommend it : Definitely, yes.

Availability : In store or online.
RRP : $ 26.95 AUD

Chanel Eyeshadow Quads : Murano & Enigma

In my recent  Strawberrynet haul I had got 2 Chanel eyeshadows quads
Below are the pics of the 2 quads.
  • Chanel Murano

L to R :
  Row 2, Column 1
  Row 1, Column 2
  Row 1, Column 1
  Row 2, Column 2

I also managed to do a look with all eyeshadows from this quad only.

  • Chanel Enigma

L to R :
  Row 1, Column 1
  Row 1, Column 2
  Row 2, Column 1
  Row 2, Column 2

The eye shadows are intensely pigmented and very smooth. The colors are easy to blend and can be built up to desire.
I would definitely recommend Enigma to anyone who is lover of smokey eye. Its a no brainer quad for smokey eye.

I loved them so much that I am sure that there are more Chanel quads to come....

Urban Decay : Naked Palette

Okay..after lot of thinking and reading other blogs, I finally caved in and ordered the much talked about Urban Decay Naked Palette from BeautyBay 3 weeks ago. And since the day it was dispatched(10th May) I would check my post everyday in hope to find it waiting for me. So my joys knew no bounds when I found "Sorry, we missed you note" from Australia Post on 25th May.

The treat I had been waiting for so long has finally arrived.

I confess that when I opened the palette, I went 'Meh' with the colors..I had eyeshadows all over my collection which were common to my the ones in Naked.

But,boy, I was in for surprise when I swatched it. Its almost butter smooth and with awesome pigmentation.
The swatches below are taken without any primer. Also they last over 10 hours without any creasing with UDPP as the base.

L to R :
  •          Virgin : I couldn't think of an appropriate description :-(
  •          Sin : Highlight shade with hint of pink
  •          Naked : Matte light brown, perfect for blending
  •          Sidecar : Frosty brown shade

 L to R :
  •          Buck : Matte medium brown
  •          Half Baked : Copper color with hint of gold
  •          Smog : Medium copper brown
  •          Darkhorse : Dark chocolate brown

L to R :

  •          Toasted : Metallic Copper with hint of rose
  •          Hustle : Brown color with strong plum hints
  •          Creep :(what a name for e/shadow) its a shimmery black
  •          Gun Metal : Shimmery silver with shades of blue

I know most blogs have already reviewed this in detail but I just want to add that this palette is all a neutral lover needs to have.

The only thing which I didn't like...the velvet packaging..but I guess thats just me

Its Haul Time !!!!

First the pics of what I bought last weekend

30% off on jewellery at David Jones generally means that I will be picking up new earrings. I absolutely love earrings and generally try to coordinate it with whatever dress I wear. So, last Saturday while walking through David Jones, I noticed the sale and started browsing. The best thing about this sale is that you have a great range of earrings to choose from even though its a sale.I generally wait for this sale to pick up some nice bargains. After all what more can you ask when you get great quality, brand at low price. Its win win.
Mr. M picked all the four earrings, but my most favourite on is the long one with silver leaf and pear(its not real ;-)). I can already see myself wearing this quite often.

On Friday, the same weekend we were strolling in shopping centre after work.Just as we were about leave Mr.M said "Look at your skin its looking so dry and patchy". Now I already knew that my skin was not in a very happy condition so what he said touched me even more. And even before I realised I was in Lush store talking to this nice helpful guy.I explained him my skin type(dry sensitive) and my concerns. On his suggestion I bought 2 Lush products

-> Aqua Marina daily cleanser
-> Oatifix facepack.

He also gave me samples for

-> Angels on Bare Skin ( exfoliant)
-> Ultrabland cleanser ( makeup remover).

And the highest point of my haul was Too Faced Natural Eye Palette..tadaaa....
I will review this seperately, but if you are all for neutrals then this is one for you.

And thus ended the haul drought :-)
